Metabolism and Why it is SO IMPORTANT!

Once you take the test we will use results to tailor an eating plan that is fit to your individual needs. The results will also show how much can be safely cut from your daily caloric intake so you can lose weight.

The test is a simple 10 minute breath-test. During the test the air that you breathe out is analyzed to determine how much oxygen your body has consumed. This data is then used to calculate your metabolic rate.

Once completed this data will be used to calculate your TARGET CALORIC ZONES. These zones provide powerful information that can then be used to develop a diet and exercise program tailored to YOUR individual needs!

Does my metabolism change?

YES. The number one factor in the cause of the change of a person’s metabolic rate is the change in their muscle to fat ratio. As a person grows older, (this is especially true for women) they lose muscle and gain fat. Many people have complained to me that, even though they eat the same as they always have, but still noticed that they gain weight easier each year. The causes this somewhat perplexing phenomenon – In short the loss of muscle results in a gain of fat!

The main causes in the shift in our metabolism:

Loss of muscle mass (primary)
Poor dietary choices
Stress
Hormonal changes
Pregnancy
Natural aging process
Inactivity
Lack of “proper exercise”

The good news is – this process can be reversed. It does not take years to accomplish your goals.

Metabolism, Weight loss and Metabolic Rate Testing

The procedure and equipment as seen in these videos are basically what you can expect when you have them done at my studio. I encourage all of my clients to have this done!

Metabolic Rate tests (as seen above) that are used to find your RMR (resting metabolic rate) should ideally be part of as part of the initial consultation process when client joins (begins workout program) AND at periodic intervals as a recalibration. IT is of great worth in assisting your personal trainer to design a fitness program.

If you have struggled to lose weight in the past it is likely because you did NOT know what your metabolic rate was.

      • I moved to Peru in 2007 and got 16 spatreae infections in the first 12 months. I lost 40lbs over that year. The best one was pneumonia (combined with bronchitis). I lost 15lbs in 10 days. I barely ate and honestly spent most of my time sleeping (some of it in hospital on a drip). Being ill can definitely raise your metabolism. Even if I’d deliberately fasted over those 10 days, I doubt I would have lost so much weight and I lost more muscle than fat, as I discovered the next time I tried to pull up a horse while riding along at full gallop. Talk about spaghetti arms! Now I’m losing the fat the right way, by eating less and getting active. Slow is definitely better. And much more comfortable!

        • Hi Naz as such, we want to look at the important fortacs that that increase your metabolic rate, maybe this few factor or method could help.The state of your body – Is your body acidic or alkaline? Keeping our body’s pH at 7.35 is essential for your cellular metabolism to work at optimal level. When your body is acidic, it affects the state of your cells and in high acidic conditions, your cells would stop functioning and die. The BasicsEvery solution is either acidic or alkaline. (Alkaline is often called base. ) These solutions can be anything from body fluids, such as stomach acid and blood, to beverages, such as wine or coffee, to sea water. Acidity and alkalinity are measured in pH (potential of hydrogen). The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, with 0 the most acidic, and 14 the most alkaline. The pH of stomach acid is 1, wine is 3.5, water is 7 (neutral), venous blood is 7.35, arterial blood is 7.4, sea water is 8.5, and baking soda is 12. Ideally, our pH should stay on the alkaline side: between 7.35 and 7.45.The activities you perform on a day-to-day basis – This include exercising which builds muscles. The more muscles you build, your metabolism rate would increase.The foods that enters into your body – what goes into your body determines the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that will affect your metabolism rate. Your digestion system determines how well your body absorb the foods and metabolize the energy as well. Your emotional health – our emotions affects your general well-being. If you are constantly feeling stress and angry, it will affect your metabolism. By copying with your stress effectively, you will significantly boost your overall metabolism.Having more enzymes in your body could also improve your digestion as well as increase your metabolism rate (different enzymes in different roles). +2

          • I loved this book. It is individualized. Most of the reecnt books out are aimed at lowering sugars and refined carbs in ones diet. This is fine but for people like myself who already eat that way and still continue to plump up some other pieces of information were missing. This book covers all the other reasons that one’s body may have gone into storage mode. I thought the Practical Tips part of each section was most useful,especially the parts on trigger foods and safely eliminating wheat, milk and eggs. For those of us without medical insurance it gives excellent guidelines of safe things that we can try ourselves.
